This rarely available fern is often called the bamboo fern. Originating from China, this unusual plant is a creeper, spreading by rhizomes and forming clumps. It will suit a shady spot in the garden, but only during warmer summers. During the colder UK months the plant should be well mulched and protected with a good layer of thick fleece, or bought indoors. It needs shelter from cold winds, low temperatures and frosts. This plant needs a free draining, fertile soil, rich is organic matter. If growing indoors, ensure it is kept moist and away from draughts and cold spots.
